There’s no question that achilles tendonitis is a pain in the you-know-what, primarily if you work in a trade and are frequently on your feet.

This is why I feel the best work boots for achilles tendonitis should have attributes like the Wolverine Overpass’s cushioned Ortholite footbeds and PU midsoles, which enable the feet and heels to rest even if you spend most of your day walking on hard surfaces.

These boots are convenient because they include a mesh lining that maximizes breathability to keep the feet fresh and dry when working in hot and humid circumstances.

Even though the boots are not the most attractive, they contain composite safety toe caps, which allow workers to perform their tasks without fear of being severely hurt by heavy tool falling.

2. Carhartt CMF6371 Work Boots For Achilles Tendonitis

Features

  • Safety toe cap: Composite safety toe caps
  • Outsoles: Rubber outsoles with slip resistant capabilities
  • Footbeds: Fully cushioned footbeds

We all felt the excitement of getting our first pair of brand new work boots.

That’s all well and good, but the issue is that most of them lack either protection, durability, or, even worse, ergonomics.

So, if you’re looking for a nice pair of work boots for achilles tendonitis, these Carhartt CMF6371 work boots can be a good option.

They have completely cushioned footbeds and midsoles that work together to help the feet to recuperate even while walking or standing for lengthy periods of time on hard concrete surfaces. They do this because of their shock-absorbing qualities, which absorb the shocks of walking on hard surfaces rather than sending them to your heels.

  • Up to 18,000 volts of electrical hazard protection

Must Have Features of The Best Work Boots For Achilles Tendonitis

There are certain features the best work boots for achilles tendonitis must have to provide the heels the support they need to avoid suffering from sore feet and heels.

Let me share these features with you.

Heel & Arch Support

To alleviate the heel discomfort caused by achilles tendonitis, one must get work boots that aren’t only protective but also reasonably supportive. Otherwise, you’ll wind up with excruciating foot soreness at the end of the day.

So, priority number one is to obtain a pair of work boots constructed so that the heels can rest comfortably within the boots with as little tension as possible.

Cushioned Footbeds & Shock Absorbing Midsoles

Choosing work boots with cushioned footbeds and shock-absorbing midsoles is another fantastic approach to maximize comfort when suffering from achilles tendonitis.

These two components work together to cushion the foot and provide greater shock absorption. As a result, when workers must walk all day on hard surfaces such as concrete or even rocky and irregular terrains, their feet can be cushioned appropriately at all times.

Flexible & Durable Construction

Nobody wants to spend hundreds of dollars on work boots that only last a few months.

So, if you want to prevent this awful scenario, you should select a work boot made with high-quality materials and long-lasting construction methods.

If possible, get American-made work boots since they are by far the most durable on the market due to their unique quality control processes.

Another excellent suggestion is to choose work boots made by reputable manufacturers with exceptional customer care. Let me give you a couple of examples:

Fast Break In Time

Regardless of your next pair of work boots is both protective and durable, you must get one that doesn’t make your life a living hell.

To do this, I believe that prioritizing work boots with short break in times is a smart place to start.

Even though all leather work boots must be broken in, I believe the better ones should take a few weeks. Otherwise, you risk having to cope with excruciating workdays and blisters for weeks.

Safety Toe Caps

You may be a new tradesman looking for good work boots for achilles tendonitis and overlooking their protective features.

So, allow me to be the one to open your eyes: work boots must be protective. Otherwise, you may be putting yourself at risk of serious injury.

This is why I feel the best work boots for achilles tendonitis should feature safety toe caps since they will give optimum toe protection, ensuring that no heavy falling objects can hurt your toes.

There are several solutions for safety toe caps, each with advantages and disadvantages. However, I believe that these distinctions are minor and that as long as you pick work boots with any safety toe cap, you will be OK.

I wrote an article about this, though if you’d like to read it.

Slip Resistant Outsoles

Do you like the idea of working hard all day just to end up on the ground with severe knee pain after slipping on a wet floor?

No? So, welcome to the club then! That is why work boots with slip-resistant outsoles exist and are highly recommended (at least by me!).

And, if you get ones that have deep multidirectional lugs, that’s even better because they’ll provide you with superior traction on rocky surfaces, which are everywhere at any worksite in America.

Frequently Asked Questions

There are lots of questions regarding the best work boots for achilles tendonitis. This is my attempt at answering most of them.

What is Achilles Tendonitis?

First of all, we must explain what the achilles tendon actually is. This tendon connects the calf bone to the heel bone and is an essential component of your body since it enables you to walk, jump, and run.

Unfortunately, spending extended periods of time on your feet or walking all day on hard surfaces puts a lot of strain on this tendon. After doing this every day, the tendon becomes inflamed, resulting in achilles tendonitis.

The most frequent side effect of this condition is a sharp and agonizing heel pain that makes it difficult to concentrate on the tasks at hand.

So, getting a work boot with convenient ergonomic features is an intelligent approach to ensure your achilles tendon is well supported, which is why I’m writing this post.

What Causes Achilles Tendonitis in Workers?

Again, as explained, achilles tendonitis is no more than the inflammation of the achilles tendon.

But the question remains: why is it so common to find tradespeople who suffer from this condition?

Well, the reasons are pretty obvious. I mean, most workers:

  • Spend 10 to 12 hours on their feet on hard surfaces
  • Are walking around the worksite most of their workdays
  • Take little to no breaks
  • Some are a bit overweight
  • Improper work boots that lack ergonomic features

What are the best safety toe caps for work boots for achilles tendonitis?

This will depend on your actual needs as there are several differences between safety toe caps.

In that context, I created this guide to give you a general idea of their differences:

  • Steel toe caps: The most common option, steel toe caps give maximum toe protection since they are constructed of a strong metal (steel) that provides good impact and compression resistance, and they are fairly inexpensive which is a big advantage if looking for cheap work boots.  The only downside is that they conduct heat and electricity and can be a bit bulky
  • Composite toe caps: The second most common option and the best for electricians, composite safety toe caps give a respectable degree of protection (though not as excellent as steel toe caps) while not transferring heat or electricity. Oh, and they’re smaller and lighter.
  • Alloy toe caps: Finally, alloy safety toe caps combine the best of both worlds. They are as light as composite safety toe caps and, because they are composed of metal, provide complete toe protection. They are, however, more difficult to find and more expensive.

If you’d like to learn a bit more about the differences between safety toe caps, I’d recommend you to watch this video:

How to maintain work boots for achilles tendonitis?

So, how do you ensure that the investment you made on your work boots for achilles tendonitis stays in a good state for years to come?

Well, that’s precisely what I’m going to show you with the following step by step guide:

  1. Dust off the boots with a brush
  2. Clean the boots with saddle soap and rinse them
  3. Let the boots completely dry
  4. Once dried, apply a thin layer of leather conditioner with your hands and massage it against the leather
  5. Let the conditionar nourish the leather for about 10 minutes
  6. Remove excess leather conditioner with a clean cloth
  7. Brush the boots and done!
